General questions
What is Authenk?
Authenk is a platform for certifying, verifying and tracing files using tamper-resistant cryptographic fingerprints. It protects the integrity of digital documents and helps establish proof of prior existence.
How does file certification work?
When a file is certified, a unique cryptographic fingerprint is generated. This fingerprint is recorded in a secure journal, making it possible to prove later that the file has not changed.
Does Authenk store my files?
No. Only the cryptographic fingerprint is retained. Original files are never stored, protecting the confidentiality and security of your data.
What is verification for?
Verification confirms that a file matches an existing certification. If the fingerprints match, the document is considered authentic and unaltered.
Accounts & registration
Do I need an account to use Authenk?
Yes. Creating an account gives you access to the dashboard, lets you manage your certifications and use all the platform’s features.
Is it free to create an account?
Yes. You can create an account for free with the Starter plan, which includes a limited monthly number of certifications to explore the service.
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in page, click ‘Forgot password’ and follow the instructions sent by email.
Certifications & documents
What kinds of files can I certify?
You can certify any kind of file: PDFs, images, videos, office documents, archives, audio files and more.
Can I certify a very large file?
Yes. Because only the cryptographic fingerprint is transmitted, file size is generally not a limit. However, very large files may take longer to process.
Can a certification expire?
No. A certification is permanent. It remains available in the cryptographic journal and can be verified without a time limit.
Can I revoke a certification?
Yes. You can mark a certification as revoked if the file should no longer be considered valid.
Subscriptions & billing
How do Authenk subscriptions work?
Subscriptions offer different monthly certification volumes and advanced features. Each plan has no long-term commitment and can be changed at any time from your account.
Can I change plans at any time?
Yes. You can move to a higher or lower plan as needed, directly from your dashboard.
Do plans include technical support?
Yes. All plans include support. Premium, Pro and Enterprise plans have priority support. You can also see the Authenk pricing page to explore the available plans.
Technical aspects
What security measures are used?
The platform uses HTTPS, service isolation, strong cryptographic mechanisms and a secure Merkle journal to protect the integrity of data and certificates.
The Authenk FAQ is updated regularly to reflect new needs and platform changes.

To learn more about cryptographic fingerprints, you can read the official documentation.
How it works technically
Yes. Certificates can be shown to third parties to prove a document’s integrity. They use standard cryptographic methods, allowing long-term verification without relying on proprietary software.
Are certificates generated by Authenk recognized by third parties?
What happens if I lose a certified file?
If you lose a file, you can still prove its existence and authenticity with the certificate and recorded fingerprint. However, Authenk does not store your files, so it cannot provide a copy of the original document.
Is certification compatible with legal requirements?
Cryptographic fingerprint certification is compatible with many regulatory requirements, particularly for proof of integrity or prior existence. It can serve as supporting evidence in internal processes, audits or professional contexts requiring reliable traceability.

File certification is a technology developed by Authenk.
